New big change in FIFA World Cup 2026
Fifa set to introduce more teams in World cup 2026 |
FIFA is set to make the World Cup greater and wealthier, regardless of the possibility that the cost to pay is lower quality soccer.
Gianni Infantino (FIFA President) |
Is this the biggest change for FIFA World cup 2026 ??
"Financially, the 48-team format is the most appealing or successful simply because the sporting element is prevailing and every match is important," said Gianni Infantino
He also said, "The prize of 16 additional spots and the greatest increments in Africa and Asia has "overpowering" support from FIFA's 211 part organizations".
But, A choice could be deferred if some Council individuals request to know precisely what number of qualifying spots each continent will get before consenting to scrap the 32-group Format. It has been effective, well known and gainful since 1998 and is secured for the following two World Cups in Russia and Qatar.
World Cup champion Germany is not in support. It contended that weakening the quantity of European and South American groups — which won each of the 20 titles since 1930 — could "strengthen the imbalance" seen at a few tournaments.
"The (German soccer federation) fundamentally believe that the current 32-team format is the best option," said president Reinhard Grindel.
"The goal of expanding the FIFA World Cup is to further advance the vision to promote the game of football, protect its integrity and bring the game to all" it has told FIFA members,
But, There are others figures too which are against this thought to extend Teams structure also last year Infantino campaigned with the idea of 40 teams but he failed to impress voters in recent regional meetings of FIFA member federations, yet at the same time Infantino guaranteed voters more World Cup places and funding raises before his election last February.
He is pretty sure about the success on this 48 figure, let's see if he can impress the ruling Council or not?

We as a Fifa fan want to see more slots in structure because this will surely help small teams to reach on bigger heights and it will also make the tournament more interesting.
